Get to Know Us
Spirited Canines is developing a new style of service dog training with a focus on self-leadership and personal development. We believe that we are each strong enough to do challenging things and support the individual journey of the teams we work with. While I have been working with service dog teams sine 2018 and have been mentoring youth since 2016, the development of this program is a huge undertaking. The vision of Spirited Canines was formed from my own experience as a troubled youth and validated by numerous industry leaders in Youth Empowerment and Service Animal Training. Validation for our program has been formed through consultation with The Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides, the YMCA, Big Brother's Big Sisters Eastern Seals, and more. The development of Spirited Canines continues with the support of incubator spaces such as the Memorial Center for Entrepreneurship, Center for Social Enterprise, Newfoundland and Labrador Organization of Women Entrepreneurs, and others. We maintain clarity through ongoing consultation with community stakeholders such as Memorial University, The Canadian National Institute for the Blind, National Service Dogs, The Nova Scotia Service Dog Certification Program and numerous dog training organizations. If you're interested in helping found a pro-social model of service dog training which empowers youth to be community leaders, then consider joining the Spirited Canines Team - unleashing potential by chasing one dream at a time.
Cheers,
- Julia & Spirit
